Frequently asked questions

Intro

If you are new to Body Stress Release, it is natural to have questions.

This page answers some of the questions people often ask before booking, during the first sessions, and as the process begins to unfold.

Body Stress Release is a gentle and individual process. Not everybody experiences it in the same way, and the body does not always respond in a straight line. These answers are here to help you understand the approach more clearly and feel more at ease.

About Body Stress Release

Body Stress Release (BSR) is a gentle hands-on approach that helps the body release accumulated stress tension.

It is not about forcing the body or chasing an immediate result at all costs. The aim is to support the body in a respectful way, so that it can begin to release what it has been holding, according to its own rhythm and priorities.

No. Body Stress Release is usually best understood as a process rather than a one-off solution.

Sometimes people notice changes quickly. Sometimes the body responds more gradually. In many cases, what matters most is not one immediate effect, but the way the body begins to change over a series of sessions.

Because one session is often not enough to clearly observe how the body is responding.

Sometimes the first session begins a process that only becomes easier to understand after a little time. A minimum of 3 sessions usually gives a more realistic picture of how the body is responding and what rhythm may make sense afterwards.

No. The process is not always linear.

Sometimes the main complaint improves first. Sometimes another layer becomes more noticeable before the original complaint changes. Sometimes progress is very clear, and sometimes it is more subtle at the beginning.

This does not necessarily mean that nothing is happening. It often means the body is responding in its own order.

Before booking

Body Stress Release may be relevant if you feel that your body is holding more tension than it can comfortably process on its own.

People come for different reasons: ongoing tension, stress-related tightness, poor recovery, physical discomfort, feeling “stuck,” or simply the sense that the body has been under strain for too long.

Yes.

Many people come with complaints that have been present for months or years. Long-standing complaints do not automatically mean that nothing can change. At the same time, the longer a pattern has been present, the more important it is to approach the process with patience and realism.

No.

You do not need to fully understand the method before coming. In fact, many people begin with curiosity, uncertainty, or even some scepticism. What matters more is whether the approach feels worth exploring for your situation.

Sessions are offered primarily in French and English.

In some cases, it may also be possible to communicate in Spanish. Dutch is a native language, and basic German may also be possible if needed.

If language is an important part of helping you feel at ease, you are welcome to ask before booking and we can let you know what feels realistic

We are a team of two practitioners at Body Stress Release Réunion.

You will be attended by either Prune Martinez or Jochem Alink.

We are both certified Body Stress Release practitioners, and we work in the same overall spirit: calm, respectful, and attentive to the body’s own process. If you have a question about who will be attending you, you are welcome to ask before booking.

During a session

A session usually begins with a short welcome and a practical check-in.

You then remain clothed and lie on the BSR table, where the body’s responses are carefully observed. The approach itself is gentle and respectful. The aim is not to force change, but to support the body in gradually releasing stored tension.

Yes.

You remain fully clothed during the session. Comfortable clothing is recommended.

A session usually lasts around 30 to 45 minutes.

The first appointment may sometimes take a little longer if more explanation or context is needed at the beginning.

It is a gentle approach.

Some areas of the body may feel more sensitive than others, and occasionally a release can feel more noticeable, but the method is not based on force. The aim is always to work with the body in a respectful way, not against it.

After a session

This varies from person to person.

Some people notice more relaxation, easier breathing, better sleep, a different feeling in the body, or a gradual reduction in tension. Others may feel tired, quieter, or simply different without being able to explain it clearly at first.

That can happen.

Not feeling something dramatic after the first session does not automatically mean that nothing has started. Sometimes the process begins in a more subtle way, and it becomes easier to recognise over several sessions rather than after just one.

That can also happen.

Sometimes the body becomes more aware of certain areas as the process begins. A complaint may briefly feel more noticeable, or another area may come into attention. This can be part of the way the body responds, especially at the beginning.

Because the body does not always work in the order the mind expects.

A person may come with one “main complaint,” but once the process begins, another layer may become more obvious. Sometimes an older pattern comes forward. Sometimes one complaint fades so gradually that the person later realises it is no longer really central.

This is one reason why we prefer to observe the process over more than one session.
